As North Carolina begins a move into Phase 1 of reopening, many local governments are continuing to hold their business meetings, work sessions and committee meetings online. Orange and Chatham County governments are no different, with many approving plans to continue holding virtual meetings through the month of May. Some advisory boards and commissions have also begun holding meetings again and to see their schedules, visit the specific local government’s website.
Chapel Hill Town Government
The Chapel Hill Town Council is slated to hold a virtual meeting every Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. (May 6, May 13, May 20, May 27)
The public is encouraged to register for the meetings in webinar fashion if they want to participate in public comment, but all videos can be live-streamed and accessed after completion on the town website in the following days.

Carrboro Town Government
The Carrboro Town Council held a meeting on May 5 and has another scheduled for Tuesday, May 19. The meeting for the 19th will be held remotely and can be live-streamed beginning at 7 p.m.

Hillsborough Town Government
The Board of Commissioners for the town of Hillsborough are slated for two meetings in May. The first is a regular business meeting on Monday, May 11, and the second is a work session on Tuesday, May 26. The meeting on May 11 is scheduled to be a virtual meeting, while the May 26 work session is undetermined to be either held in-person or remotely.

Orange County Government
The Orange County Board of Commissioners have five meetings slated for May as they prepare a budget for the new fiscal year. The board held a virtual regular business meeting on May 5, with another scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, at 7 p.m. It will hold a virtual public hearing for the proposed budget on Tuesday, May 12, that will begin at 7 p.m. Three more virtual work sessions on the budget are scheduled as well: May 14, May 21 and May 28, which are all Thursdays.
All virtual meetings can be accessed on the county’s website in the days following their conclusion.

Chatham County Government
The Chatham County Board of Commissioners is also working on its budget and has a full slate of meetings scheduled for May. It will hold budget work sessions and regular meetings on consecutive days: Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19. Both will begin at 6 p.m. Three additional budget work sessions are also scheduled: May 21, 22 and 28.
