The towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro recently provided recommendations for residents on how to properly dispose of their holiday trees.
Release from both local governments said trees will be collected on the regular yard waste collection schedule in both towns.
In Chapel Hill, that means those who have trash collected on Mondays will see yard waste collection on Thursdays. For residents whose trash is collected on Tuesdays, yard waste collection is on Fridays.
For Carrboro residents, yard waste is typically collected two Mondays per month depending on location.

Both town governments recommend that apartment complex residents should place their trees in areas designated by the property manager.
All decorations, tinsel and wire must be removed before leaving trees and wreaths at the curbside, according to the local governments. Holiday string lights that are being disposed may also be recycled at any of Orange County’s Waste and Recycling Centers.
