Carrboro mayor Barbara Foushee and town manager Patrice Toney will be honored at the second annual Black Business Ink Power 100 Awards Ceremony in Greensboro in June. The ceremony honors 100 of the most influential Black leaders and organizations from across North Carolina.

“I’m really excited to be receiving the award,” Foushee told 97.9 The Hill on Friday afternoon. “Just really humbled by it, because I’m not in it for that, for award-giving. But certainly, when someone recognizes what you’re doing that looks right and looks good for the community, I’m there for it.”

According to Black Business Ink, the honorees were selected based on community nominations, then affirmed by an independent advisory panel.

“Congratulations to each of the esteemed honorees who tirelessly dedicate themselves to the betterment of our communities across the state,” said Richard L. Williams, founder of the Black Business Ink magazine. “Black Business Ink applauds the extraordinary achievements of these outstanding leaders who represent their respective fields with distinction.”

The ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 28 at the Tanger Center in Greensboro. For more information about the ceremony, click here.
