From Thursday through Saturday this week, the Town of Carrboro will be hosting a series of pop-up events with the goal of receiving community feedback on the town’s first ever comprehensive plan.

As part of Carrboro Connections, topics of discussion include transportation, housing and jobs, as Carrboro looks to fine tune its comprehensive plan — which will be used to create a 10 to 20-year vision for the town’s future.

The first of these events begins on Thursday at Carrboro Plaza from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

Friday will include two events, with the first taking place by the bus stop on Rogers Road in front of Faith Tabernacle Oasis of Love (4:00-5:30 p.m.) and the second being held at South Green on South Greensboro Street (6:30-7:30 p.m.)

Two more pop-ups on Saturday will complete the series, with one scheduled at the Farmers Market (8:30-10:00 a.m.) and another at Martin Luther King Jr. Park (11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.).

“Our staff is going to be out there,” Carrboro mayor Lydia Lavelle told 97.9 The Hill’s Brighton McConnell during a recent interview. “We’ll be able to talk with folks about this comprehensive planning process and encouraging folks who see that table — or happen to be there, or who want to go by and see someone in person to talk about it — to come and chat with the folks that are there.”

Free popsicles will also be available to those who attend and share feedback.

For those who would like to provide feedback but are unable to attend in person, the Town of Carrboro says a virtual pop-up is accessible at any time.
