The Durham Bulls are partnering with Blue Cross to donate food to frontline healthcare workers at UNC Health.

Over the course of two months, the minor league ball club plans to provide about 300 meals a week. This will eventually equate to 2,400 total meals delivered.

The first meal donation happened this week on Thursday, according to UNC Health. The Durham Bulls went to UNC Health’s Respiratory Diagnostic Center, also called the RDC, and set up in the parking lot of the Ambulatory Care Center on Mason Farm Road in Chapel Hill.

The RDC is where patients come to get tested or triaged for COVID-19.

The Bulls, some of their leadership and their mascot “Wool E. Bull” were on site to unload the lunches for staff, thank the healthcare workers and take a tour of the RDC to learn about the testing process.

The next food deliveries are scheduled for July 23 and July 30 to the UNC Medical Center, according to UNC Health.
