
Newsweek has named the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill to its list of the World’s Best Hospitals for 2025. The list includes more than 2,400 hospitals in 30 countries. Of that group, 13 are located in North Carolina. Two other UNC Health hospitals also made the list: UNC Health Rex in Raleigh and UNC Health Johnston in Smithfield. Among more than 400 listed hospitals in the United States, the UNC Medical Center ranked 74th.
“UNC Health is proud to have three of our hospitals recognized for the outstanding care they provide,” said Jeff Lindsay, president of UNC Health Hospitals and chief operating officer. “We’re able to achieve this level of excellence thanks to the hard work of our teammates and physicians, and their extraordinary dedication to our patients.”
Newsweek used several data sources to compile its list, including recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys.
