
A traffic stop for reckless driving in Chatham County led to the arrest of a Pittsboro man on Tuesday morning. According to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Donovan Riley was pulled over at the intersection of West Street and North Carolina Highway 87 and found to have outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions.
Police say they found a 9mm handgun, multiple drugs and drug paraphernalia and a counterfeit $100 bill in Riley’s vehicle. He is being charged with several offenses, including three counts of felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance, one count of felony possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of felony forgery of instrument.
Riley is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court later in August.
