The Hillsborough Police Department has charged two people following a domestic dispute on Monday.
According to a release from police, officers responded to a residential area on Cheshire Drive for a reported kidnapping. When they arrived, investigators learned a kidnapping had not occurred but instead that a child custody dispute had turned violent. Police say no injuries were reported and the child was found safe and in lawful custody of a parent.
Town resident Jimmy Titus Smith, 24, faces a multitude of charges including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon in the presence of a minor. He is being held at the Orange County Detention Center without bond.
Shaqualah Metz, 30, also of Hillsborough, is charged with resisting a public officer. She was served with a criminal summons and not taken into custody.
