After searching for suspects involved in a July confrontation involving gunfire, several vehicle break-ins, and a police chase, the Hillsborough Police Department shared one man is arrested and faces charges.

A release from the department on Thursday evening identified 21-year-old Marcus Beatty of Durham in connection to the incident on July 23 at the Patriots Pointe apartment community, where two residents were shot at by people allegedly attempting to break into vehicles. Beatty is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and felony conspiracy. He surrendered to the Durham County Detention Center and is being held on a $45,000 secured bond, according to Hillsborough Police.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing — including the search for a second identified suspect and a potential third individual whose name was not shared on Thursday. Hillsborough investigators are also seeking information on the whereabouts of 20-year-old Elijah Page, who is also a Durham resident. For his role in the incident, Page faces three counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, and two counts of felony conspiracy.

After approaching them, one of the suspects then shot at the residents before all parties fled the scene. The perpetrators left in a vehicle later recovered and identified as stolen from Raleigh, but not before the suspects evaded police and sheriff’s deputies in the Durham area.
