A man has been arrested on several child sex charges after an investigation by Chapel Hill Police.

Records show that 40-year-old Young Soung Ko was arrested in High Point earlier this month by members of the US Marshals Fugitive Taskforce and transported to Chapel Hill. An initial report to Chapel Hill Police said that a victim has been assaulted multiple times over a period of years, according to Chapel Hill Police spokesman Ran Northam.

The subsequent investigation found alleged abuse that occurred between 2014 and 2017, Northam said, adding that the victim was the “offspring” of the suspect in the case.

Ko is facing five felony charges connected to the investigation: crime against nature, first-degree sex offense with a child, sex offense – parental role and two counts of indecent liberties.

Records show warrants were taken out on July 9 and Ko was taken into custody on July 11. Ko is being held under a $500,000 secured bond and records show he is still in the Orange County Jail. Ko was scheduled to make his first court appearance on July 12 and is due back in court on July 29.
