Chapel Hill Police have charged a 20-year-old with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a stabbing over the weekend.

Authorities said in an update late Monday afternoon that Kareem Tay’shaun Shah had been charged after stabbing his brother, 26-year-old Scotty Levelle Clardy. Clardy remains in critical condition at UNC Hospitals, according to law enforcement. Police said Shah was still being treated at UNC Hospitals for injuries sustained but had no update on his condition.

Authorities said previously that officers responded to a report of a stabbing shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday on Nunn Street near the Chapel Hill – Carrboro line in downtown Chapel Hill. Carrboro Police also responded during the initial stages of the investigation.
