A Chapel Hill lawyer has been arrested for impersonating a doctor and attempting to prescribe himself Viagra.

Police records show 62-year-old James Henry Mitchell – who listed his occupation as an attorney on police records – was arrested on Wednesday, March 7, on multiple felony counts after authorities say he called the pharmacy in the Harris Teeter at Chapel Hill North and tried to place a prescription in his name.

A Chapel Hill Police spokesman said the doctor who Mitchell allegedly impersonated reported the incident to law enforcement.

Mtichell was given a $10,000 unsecured bond and was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Thursday afternoon.

Mitchell has been charged with felony counts of forgery of a prescription and identity theft. He is also facing a misdemeanor count of obtaining a prescription drug by fraud.

Records show his next court date is set for April 13.
