Chapel Hill Police have arrested three individuals accused in a string of car break-ins dating back to February.

The three are accused of working in a coordinated manner and breaking into and stealing items from locked and unlocked cars.

Arrest reports show that 36-year-old Jamie Leigh Keen Harn is facing 10 of the 16 charges across the three suspects. Harn is facing eight felonies and two misdemeanors, including breaking and entering a vehicle, forgery and identity theft. Two other individuals – 19-year-old Santiago Aguilera Matos and 48-year-old Errol Clifton Wayne – were also charged by police. Matos is facing two felonies and two misdemeanor charges; Wayne was charged with one felony and one misdemeanor related to the break-ins.

Harn and Matos were both taken into custody Wednesday, April 25, and Wayne was arrested Thursday, May 3.

Harn is being held in the Orange County Jail under a $40,000 secured bond as of last update. Neither Matos nor Wayne are listed as currently being in the jail’s custody.

Authorities are encouraging residents and visitors to store valuable items out of plain sight when leaving a vehicle parked and to always lock your vehicle.
