The Cheese Shop, a Carrboro-based business selling “exceptional and rare local, domestic and imported small batch cheeses,” is expanding to a new location, which will open in the summer of 2024.
The shop’s owners and co-founders, Michelle and Stevie Lee Webb, announced the news in a release on Wednesday.
The shop’s new location will be at 100B Brewer Lane in the Carolina Car Wash Building in Carrboro. The building also holds the Belltree Cocktail Club.
“We are especially excited about this location inside the Carolina Car Wash building, which puts us in a part of Carrboro with a very rich history,” said Michelle Webb.
Founded in 2022, The Cheese Shop began as a pop-up within the Pluck Farm Farmer’s Market. The Webbs opened a small retail location inside Glasshalfull at 106 South Greensboro Street earlier in 2023 while also launching a “Speakcheesy Secret Supper Series.” The “transformative dining concept” involves a multi-course cheese and wine dinner inside the Belltree.
The Cheese Shop will remain in its current location at Glasshalfull until the fall of 2024.
“Opening our first standalone location is a dream realized for us,” Stevie Webb said. “It’s not just about expanding our business; it’s about creating a haven for cheese lovers where people can explore, savor and celebrate the rich world of artisanal cheeses.”
The Cheese Shop’s current hours are 12 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays.
