The 25th annual Carrboro Music Festival will take place on Sunday, October 2 at various venues in downtown Carrboro. The festival starts at 1 p.m.

Before that, a kickoff event will take place on the night of Saturday, October 1 at Cat’s Cradle featuring a free show. Doors open at 7 p.m., with a performance from Durham-based poet and musician Shirlette Ammons starting at 8 p.m.

No tickets are required to attend the festival, which will host more than 100 acts. The Carrboro Music Festival app is a new addition this year, and is available in the app store. A guide, map, and sortable Excel database with a list of performers will also be available on the Carrboro Music Festival website here.

Venues include Cat’s Cradle, The ArtsCenter, Weaver Street Market, Craftboro, 401 Main and others. More information is available on the website.

The festival is encouraging attendees to use alternative modes of transportation to and from the event, such as walking or biking. Designated parking areas near the venues will need to be made available to performers, so public parking will be limited. A map of public parking is available here. Drivers are encouraged to use the park and ride shuttle from the Jones Ferry Road lot. The shuttle is a service of Chapel Hill Transit and will run on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will run approximately every 15-20 minutes, with drop-off locations near most of the venues. To accommodate the festival, several streets and intersections will be closed. These include Weaver Street and its intersections with Center, Lindsay and Oak Streets. These will be closed from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

In the event of inclement weather, the Carrboro Music Festival will provide updates on its website and through town social media channels. Indoor venues will be unaffected, but some outdoor venues may be cancelled.
