Applications to participate in the 2024 Chapel Hill-Carrboro Community Holiday Parade are now open. The parade is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“We’re looking for local organizations with diverse cultural, faith, and community traditions to participate,” read a release from the Town of Carrboro. “We hope you’ll consider joining.”
The town also shared facts to consider when applying:
- Parade units are encouraged to be decorated in a winter theme and add entertainment value
- Creativity will be taken into account when reading applications
- This year’s parade will be non-vehicular. Only foot, bike and scooter traffic will be allowed
- No entries for strictly advertising, fundraising, recruitment activities or political campaigning and electioneering will be allowed
Interested parties can access the online application here. The deadline to apply is Monday, October 14 at 5 p.m. Though the parade is planning to have a theme, it has not yet been announced. Last year’s theme celebrated “walkin’ in a winter wonderland” and featured various forms of alternative transportation.
Last year’s route for the holiday parade began at the 140 West Plaza in downtown Chapel Hill, continuing as Franklin Street turns into Carrboro’s Main Street before finishing at Carrboro Town Hall at 301 West Main Street.
