A week after Carrboro Police issued a call for the public’s help in finding a missing and “endangered” resident, law enforcement confirmed to Chapelboro Kent Kurosawa was located dead.
UNC Police, as well as Carrboro Police, confirmed Friday that Kurosawa was found deceased on Oct. 3 in Chapel Hill. The university’s campus police department handled the response since Kurosawa’s body was found on UNC’s Carolina North property in Chapel Hill. An incident report categorized it as death by suicide with no foul play suspected.
Police issued a missing persons alert the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 2, saying Kurosawa was last seen at his Carrboro residence and was “believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment.” He was 27 years old.

A statement from UNC Media Relations did not name Kurosawa, but said the deceased individual had no affiliation with the university and there is no danger to the UNC campus community stemming from the case. A Carrboro Police investigator for Kurosawa’s case was listed on the incident report from the afternoon of Oct. 3.
