Sophomore shortstop Danny Serretti lined an RBI triple to right-center field in the top of the ninth inning on Sunday in Chestnut Hill, which proved to be the game-winning hit for the 14th-ranked UNC baseball team in a 5-4 win over No. 21 Boston College.

Serretti finished the game with a team-high two RBIs, with his first coming on a solo home run in the second inning that tied the game at 1-1.

Boston College (11-7, 3-6 ACC) reclaimed the lead in the third inning on a solo home run of its own, but UNC (12-6, 8-4 ACC) answered the call again with three runs in the top half of the fourth.

Clemente Inclan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score the first of those three runs, followed by a sacrifice fly from Johnny Castognozzi and an RBI groundout from Angel Zarate.

The Eagles again tied the game with a pair of runs in the fifth inning. Both teams would then remain scoreless until Serretti’s ninth-inning heroics.

Lefty Caden O’Brien was credited with the win on the mound for UNC after pitching the final 2.2 innings to close the game out for the Tar Heels.

This also marks UNC’s third ACC series victory in four tries this season.
