Orange County cider makers Botanist & Barrel has released its first canned hard ciders.
The company’s flagship Farmhouse “seriously dry” cider will be available in cans for the first time across the south. Cans will be found in stores, restaurants and bars, according to a press release.
“We really want to show the raw terrior of the south with Appalachia and Piedmont apples,” says Botanist & Barrel founding partner Amie Fields.
The Farmhouse is unpasteurized and unfiltered, one of the qualities the cidery boasts for all its cider products. It’s also additive and sugar free.
The initial launch of the Botanist & Barrel cans was set for two locations on October 11 with Durham’s Beer Study hosting a can release with Appalachian Vintner of Asheville releasing the cans in their bottle shop and bar. A portion of Botanist’s sales at Beer Study Friday went to the charity Baggingit4kids, an organization in Durham that helps feed food insecure children in the area.
“We have been longtime fans of Botanist and Barrel at Beer Study and we have been eagerly awaiting their first can release,” said Kerri Hoffman, GM of Beer Study Durham. “Farmhouse ‘seriously dry’ cider won’t last long here.”
Founded in 2017 by the sibling duo of Lyndon and Kether Smith, Botanist & Barrel creates a variety of craft ciders, sours and dry fruit wines. Their tasting room is located in Cedar Grove.
