A gas station in Northern Orange County has been destroyed following a motor vehicle crash early Wednesday morning.

The Farm & Garden Center off North Carolina Highway 86 in Cedar Grove was damaged after a driver ran off the road. According to a release from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a report of a crash at 2:32 a.m. on Wednesday. The agency said a driver from Burlington traveled off the roadway and collided their vehicle with the gas station on the corner of Walnut Grove Church Road.

Following the collision, the driver’s vehicle caught fire and damaged the full-service convenience store beyond repair. According to the State Highway Patrol, the driver and passenger in the vehicle were transported to Duke University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway Patrol troopers cleared the scene by 4:50 a.m., according to the release.
