A local group has released its endorsements of local candidates ahead of Election Day in Orange and Chatham counties.
The Fred Battle, Hank Anderson Bill Thorpe, Yonni Chapman Breakfast Club shared its endorsements for the District 1 race of the Orange County Board of Commissioners and the District Court race for Seat 15B in Orange and Chatham counties. Jean Hamilton and Mark Dorosin earned endorsements in their race for District 1 seats, while the club did not endorse either candidate in the at-large race. In the District Court judge race, the group endorsed Hathaway Pendergrass.
The club endorsed the candidates by vote in a special meeting. In its release, the group said it endorsed the candidates it believes have the best interest of affordable housing, support of living wages, work toward closing the achievement gap in public education and fair policing.
“We believe that these candidates will work tirelessly to gain the insights and understandings of the unique challenges that many families face while trying to survive in an otherwise high income community,” said Chairperson Herman Marrel Foushee, “and will become political advocates through their work and empower the changes that represent us.”
Election Day for the Board of Orange County Commissioners race and the District Court race is Tuesday.
