Just under 48 hours removed from scoring six goals in UNC’s win over Mercer this past Wednesday, Tar Heel men’s lacrosse star Chris Cloutier was named to the watch list for this year’s Tewaaraton Award.

The honor, which is handed out each year to the nation’s top men’s and women’s lacrosse players, is the most prestigious in the sport.

Cloutier has led the Tar Heels to a 5-0 record so far in 2018, while scoring a team-high 17 goals. He also ranks second on the team with four assists.

During UNC’s run to the national championship in 2016, Cloutier was named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstandin Player as a sophomore.

Now in his senior year, the Canadian has head coach Joe Breschi’s team looking like a squad to be reckoned with–as the Tar Heels have been able to avoid the loss column to this point.

He is one of 50 players on the Tewaaraton Watch List, a group of players that will be trimmed down to 25 by April 25. The five finalists will then be revealed on May 10.

Players not currently on the watch list can still earn their way into contention with stellar performances.
