Carrboro Police have charged a teenager who is alleged to have struck a bicyclist with his vehicle.
Police were called to the intersection of North Greensboro Street and Robert Hunt Drive shortly after four o’clock on Monday afternoon, according to a release. Authorities say the bicyclist was transported to UNC Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was released.
Police have charged 18-year-old Jacob Hart, of Carrboro, with felony hit and run and failure to yield causing serious injury. Hart was given an unsecured bond of $1,000.

That road is heavily traveled by cyclists, as well as motor vehicles. While some are clamoring to pave Bolin Forest for cyclists, I don’t know why there has been no discussion about making a simple bike lane in areas including N Greensboro/ Old 86. It’s a hazard to cyclists and motorists alike. No excuse. The area is not bike friendly.
