Another suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal November shooting in Carrboro. One person was shot and killed on November 2. Another victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said in a release that 27-year-old Aarun Dexter was arrested by the US Marshals Service in Durham. Police said Dexter’s arrest was an update to the arrest of Steven Sutton one week after the fatal shooting.
Sutton was charged with first-degree murder. But Dexter has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm.
Police said in late November another individual – 28-year-old Jewell Pridgeon – was arrested and charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to first degree murder, one count of accessory after the fact to robbery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of accessory after the fact to attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Dexter was given a $10,000 bond, according to law enforcement. Officials said he has also been charged with unrelated crimes in Durham.
