UNC senior Ben Griffin became the first golfer in school history on Sunday to shoot in the 60’s for all three rounds of the ACC Men’s Golf Championship.

Griffin shot a 3-under-par 69 in Sunday’s final round, after shooting a 67 on Friday and another 69 during Saturday’s second round–bringing his individual score to 11-under-par for the weekend at the Old North State Club.

His score was good enough for fifth overall on the individual leaderboards, with Virginia’s Thomas Walsh taking home the crown after finishing with an all-time ACC record score of 16-under-par.

Griffin also tied Dustin Bray for the best 54-hole score in UNC history at the ACC Men’s Golf Championship, a mark that has stood since 2002.

“Ben had another good week and continues to leave his mark on the program as the first Tar Heel to shoot three rounds in the 60s and tie Dustin Bray’s 54-hole ACC score,” head coach Andrew DiBitetto said afterwards.

As a team, UNC finished 19-under-par–which earned the Tar Heels a sixth place finish. Georgia Tech was the overall team winner with a score of 29-under-par.
