Named after a mountain range on the Tennessee border, Unaka Prong is a five-piece jazz fusion/progressive rock band that’s drawing a lot of buzz.
The band members all met at Appalachian State, but they’ve since relocated to the Triangle. Now based in Durham, the band released their fourth album, “Kudzu,” in July.
Recorded during the pandemic, “Kudzu” features the same high-level instrumentation that we’ve come to expect from the band – plus more vocals this time around. (“We had more to say.”)
Unaka Prong stopped by 97.9 The Hill and played a trio of songs off the album: “Birdsongs,” “The Ocho,” and “Shifty” (which now has its own music video). Listen below.
