Singer-songwriter Leah Moore stopped by Live & Local last week, following the release of her debut EP “Home to Myself.”

“It’s very genre-eclectic,” Moore says of the EP – which includes just four songs, but a wide range of musical styles. “I wanted the songs to have the production treatment that I felt was right for each one, (rather than) being the most cohesive, genre-wise…(and they’re) my four best songs, I think, that I’ve written.”

With influences ranging from Fleetwood Mac to Alanis Morissette to Lorde, Moore marked the EP’s release last month with a show at Cat’s Cradle – a well-deserved celebration, after a recording process that began in the summer of 2025.
“I recorded at Nightsound Studios in Carrboro,” she says. “Chris Wimberley, the owner, he was very patient as we went through line by line…I like to pick things apart into their pieces, so it was a time-consuming process, but definitely worthwhile.”

Leah Moore stopped by Live & Local to discuss “Home to Myself” and play two songs: “Songbird on a Shelf” and “Purple Hair.” Listen:
