Join Aaron Keck Tuesday through Friday at 6:00 p.m. for “Live & Local,” where you’ll hear music from artists close to home, and even get the chance to listen in as local musicians talk about where they’ve been, where they’re going, and what’s happening in the local music scene.

The Yardarm
has a new EP out, called “Camp Songs.” Those camp songs have been bending ears all across the state, and the EP has been getting quite a bit of buzz — enough to book The Yardarm for a show in Raleigh at Slim’s on Thursday, December 12.

Billed as “twangy, fuzzy rock and roll … reminiscent of Wilco, REM, Neil Young and Tom Petty,” The Yardarm puts the songwriting and singing talents of Jason Bales and JJ Westfield to good use — with Palmer Smith on bass and John Cowan on drums. Theirs is a special kind of Americana, a lived-in sound, and the sort of music that can draw a listener in just as easily as it can hum along in the background at home while chores get done or provide the soundtrack to a live show someone will remember for a long time.

The band played three songs: “Too Many Bands,” “Camp Songs,” and (fittingly) “The Last One.” You can hear all three below, along with the band’s conversation with Aaron Keck, and tune in for more Live & Local weekdays at 6:00!
