The UNC women’s basketball team will have to wait to try and extend its winning streak to 10 games. The program announced Tuesday night its upcoming game against Jacksonville, scheduled for Wednesday night in Carmichael Arena, would be cancelled due to COVID protocols within the JU program. No make-up date is scheduled, and the game will be declared a no-contest.

97.9 The Hill’s coverage of the game, scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m., will be replaced by Live and Local at 6 p.m. and Primetime in the ACC at 7 p.m.

The women’s basketball program’s holiday sweater promotion, scheduled for the Jacksonville game, will now occur before the team’s home matchup with Alabama State on December 21. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a Carolina-themed holiday sweater.

The Tar Heels, who appeared in the AP Poll for the first time in five years this week, will now turn their attention to the ACC opener at Boston College on Sunday afternoon. Carolina is 3-0 in true road games this season, with two of those wins coming against Power 5 opponents. The Alabama State game the following Tuesday will be the team’s final non-conference matchup before fully diving into to conference play.
