A 4-1 run in the second half of Sunday’s top-five women’s lacrosse showdown in South Bend between No. 4 Notre Dame and No. 5 UNC guided the Fighting Irish to a 9-7 victory over the Tar Heels.
With the win, Notre Dame moved to 10-2 overall this season with a 3-1 mark in the ACC. UNC, meanwhile, fell to 9-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Katie Hoeg was the Tar Heels’ top offensive performer with a goal and four assists, while Jamie Ortega added two goals and an assist of her own.
UNC recovered from a 4-3 halftime deficit to take a 6-5 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining, before Notre Dame rallied for the comeback victory.

The Tar Heels will look to get back into the win column in their next game, which is on the road at Louisville on April 6 at noon.
