UNC senior attacker Jamie Ortega was selected Tuesday as the ACC Women’s Lacrosse Co-Offensive Player of the Week, just two days after breaking the all-time UNC goal-scoring record.

Ortega shared the weekly honor with Boston College attacker Charlotte North, following a week in which she scored eight goals and dished out four assists.

She broke the previous UNC goal record of 198 — set by Abbey Friend from 2011-14 — during UNC’s win over No. 25 Vanderbilt this past Sunday. The Tar Heels also defeated No. 11 Duke on Friday for their first ACC win of the season.

Ortega’s 16 goals in 2021 are good enough to put her at the top of the ACC leaderboard in scoring.

UNC is currently ranked No. 1 in the country at 5-0 to begin the year. Next on the schedule is a home game against Boston College on Saturday at 11 a.m.
