With a chance to earn a season sweep over the No. 9 NC State Wolfpack on Sunday at Carmichael Arena, the UNC women’s basketball team came up just short in a 74-69 loss.

Guard Paris Kea led UNC (17-12, 8-7 ACC) with a season-high 32 points, but the Wolfpack was able to overcome that and ultimately spoil Kea’s Senior Day celebration.

NC State (24-3, 11-3 ACC) took the lead for good on a go-ahead jumper from Kiara Leslie with just 37.7 seconds left on the game clock–a shot that broke what had been a 68-68 tie.

The Tar Heels led by three points at halftime, but fell behind by as many as 11 points during the second half before rallying to take a 52-50 lead early in the fourth quarter.

For the Wolfpack, the win gave them some revenge after the Tar Heels ended their undefeated start to the season earlier this month–snapping their win streak at 21 games.
