The season came to an end for the UNC women’s basketball team Thursday afternoon at the Greensboro Coliseum, as the Tar Heels suffered a 77-64 loss at the hands of the rival NC State Wolfpack in the Second Round of the ACC Tournament.

Junior guard Paris Kea led UNC (15-16) with 27 points in her hometown, but the stingy Wolfpack defense held her to just six after halftime.

Early in the game, the Tar Heels sprinted out to an 11-3 lead. NC State (23-7) never panicked, however, and used a 19-5 run to close out the first quarter and take control of the game for good.

Over the final three quarters of the afternoon, UNC was never able to shrink to its deficit below five points.

Poor shooting was once again the culprit, as the Tar Heels shot just 31 percent from the floor–including a lackluster 7-for-24 performance from behind the three-point line.

Guard Aislinn Koenig led the Wolfpack with 19 points in the game, and was one of four NC State players to score in double figures.

The win marks the third for NC State over UNC this season.

Meanwhile, the Tar Heels end their season having lost 10 of their final 11 games.
