The sixth-ranked UNC baseball team improved to 7-0 to start the 2019 season on Sunday at Boshamer Stadium with a pair of victories over the South Florida Bulls in a doubleheader.

UNC took the first game of the day by a score of 2-1, before completing the sweep with a 5-3 victory in the second game–extending its home winning streak to 25 games in the process.

Junior starting pitcher Tyler Baum was the star of Game One, as he struck out 12 USF hitters across seven innings while allowing just one run.

The Tar Heels gave Baum a 2-0 lead to work with in the bottom of the first inning after Dylan Harris scored on a wild pitch and shortstop Ike Freeman hit a sacrifice fly.

In the second game, it was Freeman who was the hero–as his two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth broke a 3-3 tie and provided the final difference on the scoreboard.

It was the third home run of the season for Freeman, who also hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning on Saturday. That total matches his career-high for a single season.

Austin Bergner earned the win on the mound in Game Two, throwing 6.1 innings while striking out six batters and allowing only four hits.
