A walk-off home run from junior center fielder Dylan Harris in the 10th inning Saturday night at Boshamer Stadium handed the sixth-ranked UNC baseball team a 3-2 victory over the South Florida Bulls.

It was the first game of a scheduled three-game series between the teams, after Friday’s game was postponed due to rain.

Harris’ heroics moved the Tar Heels to 5-0 to start the 2019 season, and extended their home winning streak to 23 games.

Despite a spectacular start on the mound from junior Gianluca Dalatri–who allowed just five hits and two runs in 7.1 innings–UNC trailed 2-1 headed into the bottom of the ninth.

Shortstop Ike Freeman then hit the first pitch of the inning over the wall in left field to tie things up and ultimately force extra innings, setting up Harris for the game-winner.

Harris had previously tied the game 1-1 in the third inning with a sacrifice fly.

Up Next:

Sunday will feature a doubleheader between the Tar Heels and Bulls (3-2), with the first game starting at 10 a.m. and the second game beginning approximately 40 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
