CANCUN, MEXICO – A last-second layup sent UNC Women’s Basketball’s second game in the Cancun Challenge to overtime, and the Tar Heels couldn’t get anything going in the extra frame dropping their second game of the season, 94-81, to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Carolina led by six with 27 seconds left in regulation, but couldn’t hold on.
After UNC opened overtime with the first two, ArizonaState scored nine unanswered points halfway through OT capped off by this three from Deja Mann.

The Sun Devils then extended the lead to 12 on another 7-0 run outscoring the Tar Heels 16-4 in overtime.
Carolina’s Diamond DeShields led all players with a career-high 28 points and eight rebounds. Stephanie Mavunga tallied a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
ArizonaState had five players score in double figures. The Sun Devils also out rebounded the Tar Heels 49-43.
With the loss, Carolina fell to 5-2; ArizonaState improved to 5-1.
The Tar Heels face the Fighting Illini in the final game of the Cancun Challenge Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
