Amy Kaufman Burk grew up rubbing elbows with Hollywood movie stars of the 1950’s and 60’s. Her father, Millard Kaufman, was a Hollywood writer with two Oscar nominations for his work. Amy recently self-published her first terrific novel Hollywood High: Acheive the Honorable. Somewhat auto-biographical, the main character Caroline Black goes from a high-end private school to Hollywood High, an inner-city school filled with gangs, run-aways, and the occassional prostitute. An accidental hero, Caroline becomes a warrior against homophobia, beautism, anti-semitism, and in the process refines her own and her friend’s moral compasses. A very inspiring show.
