The 16th-ranked UNC baseball team dropped Friday’s series opener at Boshamer Stadium to the Virginia Cavaliers by a score of 12-5.
Danny Serretti and Ashton McGee each drove in two runs for the Tar Heels (31-12), but it was not enough to overcome a poor defensive performance that saw the team commit four errors.
Virginia (26-18) held a slim 7-4 lead entering the eighth inning before scoring five runs in the top of that frame to put the lead out of reach for good.
