After being shutout in Friday’s series opener against Virginia in Charlottesville, the No. 21 UNC baseball team crafted the perfect response on Saturday–taking both games of a doubleheader to claim the series victory.

The Tar Heels (24-12, 12-6 ACC) won the first game of the day 8-6 behind three hits apiece from Dallas Tessar and Ike Freeman.

Tessar hit a solo home run, while Freeman racked up three RBIs to lead the UNC offensive effort in the opening act of the doubleheader.

Later on in the evening, the Tar Heels claimed a 12-6 victory to bring their run total to 20 for the day–looking nothing like the team that failed to scratch across even a single run the night before.

Brandon Riley and Ashton McGee each drove in three runs apiece in the second leg, while Michael Busch hit a solo shot in the first inning to bring his team-leading home run total to nine this season.

UNC never trailed at any point during either of the two games on Saturday.
