The 23rd-ranked UNC baseball team opened up its run in the ACC Tournament on Wednesday evening in Durham with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers.

Caleb Roberts was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Tar Heels (39-17) the victory, which earns them a shot at the tournament semifinals should they beat Miami on Friday.

Ike Freeman and Danny Serretti each added RBIs in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively, to help UNC build a 2-0 lead, but Virginia scored runs in the seventh and eighth frames to tie things up.

On the mound, Tyler Baum threw 7.1 solid innings for the Tar Heels, before Joey Lancellotti came on and got the win with 2.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen.
