The fifth-ranked UNC women’s soccer team picked up a 4-1 road victory at Boston College on Saturday night, using a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes to help pull away.

Freshman Alessia Russo kicked off the scoring in just the fourth minute, as she received a pass from teammate Joanna Boyles and then found the back of the net with a laser from about 25 yards out.

It was Russo’s sixth goal in the last five games, giving her a team-high eight goals on the season.

Just five minutes later, Bridgette Andrzejewski used her head to score off of a corner kick–giving her the first of her two goals in the game.

Jessie Scarpa added a third first-half goal for the Tar Heels (11-2, 7-0 ACC), with this one coming only minutes before the break.

After UNC held onto its lead for a good portion of the second half, Andrzejewski then notched her second goal of the night off a wonderful cross from Dorian Bailey in the 78th minute.

Boston College (9-6-1, 3-3-1 ACC) was unable to get on the board until the 84th minute–with the outcome no longer even close to being in doubt–when Carly Leipzig caught UNC goalie Samantha Leshnak out of position and scored an easy goal.

From there, the final minutes were just a formality–as UNC’s early offensive explosion proved to be more than enough to earn yet another victory, the team’s seventh in a row.
