Behind 23 points and 17 rebounds from junior forward Janelle Bailey on Thursday night at Carmichael Arena, the UNC women’s basketball team rolled to a 78-68 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers.

This marks the Tar Heels’ second win over Virginia (8-13, 3-7 ACC) by double digits this season, as UNC improved its record to 15-6 overall and 6-4 inside the ACC.

In addition to Bailey’s big performance, UNC also received 17 points from senior guard Medinah Muhammad and 16 from freshman forward Malu Tshitenge.

By the end of the first quarter, the Tar Heels led 21-8. From there, they would go on to build a commanding 22-point halftime lead they would never relinquish the rest of the way.

For the game, UNC shot 48 percent from the floor while holding Virginia to a 36 percent mark on the other end.
