The UNC women’s basketball team improved to 2-0 on Saturday at Carmichael Arena with a dominant performance in a 96-35 victory over the UNC-Greensboro Spartans.

Five players scored in double figures for the Tar Heels, as the team put together its highest scoring output since head coach Courtney Banghart took over prior to last season.

Anya Poole led the team with 15 points, while Petra Holešínská added 14 and star freshman Deja Kelly added 13. The other two Tar Heels to reach double figures were Ariel Young with 11 points and Janelle Bailey with 10.

UNC ended the first quarter on a 16-0 run, and then continued to build on that lead over the rest of the game.

The Tar Heels held the Spartans to just 11 points in the first half and 18 points through three quarters in an absolutely phenomenal defensive effort.

UNC led 51-11 at the halftime break and never allowed UNC-Greensboro to come closer than 40 points in the second half.
