The ACC released its All-Academic Teams for baseball on Friday, with UNC freshman starting pitcher Gianluca Dalatri the only Tar Heel to make the list.

With the selection, Dalatri became one of 18 players on the conference’s All-Academic roster who also qualified for an All-ACC selection earlier this offseason.

Requirements for the All-Academic team include a 3.0 grade point average–both for an athlete’s entire collegiate career and their most recent semester. Achievements on the field are also taken into consideration.

The native of Wall Township, New Jersey also earned Freshman All-American honors after posting a 7-3 record with a 3.34 ERA during his debut campaign.

After serving as the No. 2 starter behind JB Bukauskas this past season, Dalatri appears primed to take over the top spot in the Tar Heel rotation entering next year.

This summer, Dalatri will follow in Bukauskas’ footsteps and pitch for the U.S. Collegiate National Team before returning to Chapel Hill in the fall.
