An offensive explosion on Sunday in Chapel Hill fueled the UNC softball team to a 9-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers and clinched the three-game series win for the Tar Heels (7-11, 2-1 ACC).
UNC scored at least once in all six innings, taking a 5-0 lead into the sixth inning before piling on four runs in that final frame to seal up the win.
The Tar Heels got home runs from Campbell Hutcherson, Lexi Godwin and Kiersten Licea, while Destiny Middleton led the team with three RBIs.
On the mound, Hannah George held Pittsburgh (6-9, 1-2 ACC) to just the one run while tossing her second complete game in as many days.
