Conference play for the No. 2 UNC men’s tennis team began on Sunday in Chapel Hill, as the Tar Heels rolled to a 6-1 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies.
The Tar Heels won the doubles point and then took five of the six singles matches to improve their overall record to 11-1 in 2020 and 1-0 inside the ACC.
Earning singles victories for UNC were: William Blumberg (6-0, 6-0), Rinky Hijikata (7-6, 6-2), Josh Peck (6-2, 6-3), Simon Soendergaard (6-4, 7-6) and Brian Cernoch (6-4, 6-3).
With the loss, Virginia Tech fell to 5-4 overall and 0-1 inside the league.
