Monday marked the release of the 2018-19 non-conference schedule for the UNC women’s basketball team, with the Tar Heels scheduled to play five of their 14 out-of-league games against opponents from Power Five conferences and three games against teams who made last year’s NCAA Tournament.

An exhibition game on Nov. 1 at home against Carson-Newman begins the year for head coach Sylvia Hatchell and company, with a road game at Elon on Nov. 6 representing the official season opener.

The home opener at Carmichael Arena is set for Nov. 9 against Kent State, while VCU is scheduled to make the trip to Chapel Hill on Nov. 14.

From there, the Tar Heels travel to Boulder for a game at Colorado on Nov. 18–a road trip that will prepare them for the Paradise Jam Tournament in the Bahamas from Nov. 22-24.

UNC is scheduled to take on UCLA, USF and Kentucky on consecutive days while in the Caribbean over Thanksgiving, before returning to the mainland for a road game at Ohio State on Nov. 29 as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Three straight home games against Maine (Dec. 2), UNC-Wilmington (Dec. 5) and UNC-Greensboro (Dec. 9) come after the Ohio State contest, before a trip to Myrtle Beach for the Carolinas Challenge.

The Tar Heels will face Rice (Dec. 18) and Auburn (Dec. 20) in the event before taking a week off for Christmas, then close out the non-conference slate on Dec. 28 at home against Howard.
