Mauricio Pineda and Alex Rose each scored Monday night to lead the 12th-ranked UNC men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory in Durham over the Jacksonville Dolphins.

Pineda opened scoring in the match with a goal in the 13th minute assisted by Nils Bruening, while Rose tapped in a rebound in the 89th minute to stomp out any potential comeback attempt for the visitors.

Jacksonville (0-4) managed just two shots in the entire game, as UNC (3-1) played tight defense throughout the entirety of the night.

Up Next:

The Tar Heels return to the pitch this Saturday night at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, when they host the Pitt Panthers in their first game against ACC competition. That match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
