UNC senior Ashley Hoffman was recognized by the ACC on Tuesday as the league’s field hockey Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the Tar Heels to a pair of shutout wins over Princeton and Penn.

With Hoffman leading the way, the Tar Heel defense has allowed just two goals so far this season as the team has gotten off to a 4-0 start.

She also scored twice in UNC’s win over Penn on Sunday, and leads the Tar Heels with five goals in 2018.

The ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor was given to Duke freshman Olivia Sahaydak.

UNC will be back on the field this Friday to open conference play at Louisville.
