UNC senior goalkeeper Amanda Hendry was selected Monday as the ACC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week following her efforts in UNC’s 2-0 win over Louisville this past Friday.

Hendry made eight saves for the shutout win in the Tar Heels’ first game of the spring season, which was a rematch of the ACC title game won by UNC back in November.

Louisville–which ended the Tar Heels’ 47-game winning streak in September–out-shot UNC by a slim margin in Friday’s game, but Hendry’s work in goal made all the difference in the final score.

She has five shutouts through UNC’s 12 games this season and has won the ACC Defensive Player of the Week award three times.

The Tar Heels (11-1) are currently scheduled to return to action on Saturday with a road game at Wake Forest.
